In 2019, the year of the 20th anniversary of the relatively young Habanos brand San Cristóbal de La Habana, Habanos S.A. announced a very special new format: the San Cristóbal 20 Aniversario. This cigar in the Capu-leto format is 162 mm long and has a large ring gauge of 52. The format is unique in the Habanos range. It is offered exclusively for sale in the shops of the Habanos franchise network La Casa del Habano. The packaging of the 20 cigars in a kind of treasure chest is particularly creative and unusual. San Cristóbal de La Habana was the original name of Havana, the capital of Cuba, when it was founded in 1519; San Cristóbal (St. Christopher) in honor of the saint of the day on which the city was founded, and "la habana" after an Indian name for "place". The “San Cristóbal de La Habana” brand was launched in 1999 in honor of the city's long history on the threshold of the new millennium. There are currently three formats in the standard range, each named after one of the fortresses of Havana that were built between the 16th and 18th centuries. They were used by the Spanish colonial rulers to defend the city against possible attacks. The forts and the cigars are called: La Fuerza, La Punta and El Principe.
