The glass jars of the H.Upmann Noellas contain each 25 of these cigars in the Cosacos format (135 mm length, band size 42). These jars were produced by the Cuban cigar industry up to the beginning of the 1980s and then discontinued. The jars were famous for the very special maturation storage capacity of these light to medium strength cigars. In the “Illustrated encyclopaedia of post-revolution Havanna cigars” by Min Ron Nee, there is the following note: “Older specimens have a very fine and delicate bouquet, just like a large Burgundy just as ripened. The less these cigars are disturbed in the glass jar…, the better the bouquet is developed. This cigar is regarded as classical example for the fact that cigars locked in an air tight environment undergo a ripening process which can be compared to “wine in the bottle”.
