Cohiba is without a doubt a very special cigar brand. Her story is unique in every way and entire books have already been written about her. It was created in 1966 especially for President Fidel Castro and manufactured in the then top secret but now world famous El Laguito factory. In addition to their own consumption by the Cuban leadership, the Cohibas were exclusively representative gifts for heads of state and diplomats. Since 1982, “Cohiba” brand cigars have also been available in limited quantities on the open market. Cohiba is an ancient Taino word for the wraps of tobacco leaves smoked by these indigenous natives of Cuba. There are now four different lines of the Cohiba brand. The oldest is the Línea Clásica, which also includes the three classic vitolas that originally made up the brand: Laguito No.1, better known by its sales name “Lanceros”, the Laguito No.2 as “Coronas Especiales” and the Laguito No.3, whose vitola de salida was called “Panetelas”. Now, to mark the 55th anniversary of the Habanos top brand, the new COHIBA AMBAR follows. A new one was created for this Format with the production name “Placeres” was developed. It has a length of 132 mm and a large ring gauge of 53. It is the first new Habano to complement the “Línea Clásica” since 1989 and will in future be the cigar with the largest diameter in Cohiba's standard range. A selection of the finest tobaccos from the best tobacco plantations in San Juan y Martínez and San Luis in the Vuelta Abajo growing region in the Pinar del Rio province are used for their tobacco blend. Cohiba Ambar goes on sale in the brand's typical painted boxes. They contain ten pieces of the cigars.
