For connoisseurs and experts, it was THE surprise at this year’s Habanos Festival: the Le Hoyo de San Juan! New is not only the format – called “Geniales” with a length of 150 mm and a band size of 54 – because this has extremely popular for years with the Montecristo Open Eagle. New is rather that Habanos S.A. for the first time puts the origin of the tobacco into the spotlight, and puts it into the name of the format. Because for the filler as Seco and Ligero, solely tobaccos from San Juan y Martinez in the tobacco cultivation zone Vuelta Abajo are used, which is legally protected as designation of origin. Formerly the line “Le Hoyo” stood for formats of rather slim to medium band size. And this line has new additions for the first time since decades. And what additions! The Le Hoyo de San Juan is a real stunner, with huge band size and a really big taste. The big volume showcases the outstanding, aromatic blend with a lot of tobacco sweetness perfectly. The exquisite tobaccos of San Juan y Martinez very decidedly characterise this taste.
